UBTECH Fires Up Factory Making a Humanoid Robot Every 10 Minutes
New Liuzhou 'super factory' targets output of 10,000-plus Walker S and Cruzr units a year
UBTECH Robotics has begun operating a new humanoid-robot manufacturing plant in the northern part of Liuzhou, China, that the company says can turn out a finished robot every 10 minutes, according to a report by South Korea's iRobotNews, which cited the Chinese outlet China Robot Network.
The facility sits in Liuzhou's Shengtaixin district on a 74-acre (roughly 320,000-square-meter) site that includes an office building plus three large factory buildings, for a combined floor area of 42,000 square meters. UBTECH says the plant is designed for annual production capacity exceeding 10,000 humanoid robots.
Inside, several robot models UBTECH developed in-house are deployed directly on the production line, working alongside human employees in what the report describes as a "robots building robots" arrangement. One of the three factory buildings — spanning 14,000 square meters with a 13.8-meter ceiling height — is dedicated to mass-producing UBTECH's industrial humanoid lines, primarily the Walker S and Cruzr series. The other two buildings handle production of the company's Wukong-series robots and smart household products, and also function as raw-material and finished-goods warehouses.
The new plant is part of a larger effort by Liuzhou to build an "AI plus manufacturing" industrial cluster, coordinated with research and application activity in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Per the report, the city now counts 46 companies in its AI device and robotics sector. Combined output from that sector reportedly rose 39.5% year-over-year last year, and grew 98.1% year-over-year for the January-through-August period this year — figures the report cites as evidence that the region's robot-manufacturing base is starting to generate cluster and economic effects.
In June, Liuzhou released a three-year roadmap — the "Liuzhou AI Devices and Robotics Industry High-Quality Development Action Plan (2026–2028)" — that lays out development goals across 19 fields, including industrial robots, humanoid robots, intelligent connected vehicles and advanced smart equipment.
UBTECH has been pushing its Walker S humanoid line toward factory and logistics deployments over the past two years, and the Liuzhou facility represents one of the largest dedicated humanoid-robot manufacturing sites the company has disclosed publicly. The report did not specify whether the plant is currently running at its full stated capacity of 10,000-plus units annually or is still scaling toward that figure, nor did it detail how many robots are presently deployed on the line itself.
